Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the Northern Nomes realm. Each character is created to bring a little touch of Scottish charm, folklore and personality into your home. Here you will find answers to some of the questions we are asked most often.

About Northern Nomes

Are Northern Nomes handmade?

Yes. Every Northern Nome is individually created by hand in Scotland, with each character carefully brought to life using a mixture of traditional tartans, quality fabrics, wooden elements and carefully chosen decorative details.

Because each character is handmade, no two will ever be exactly alike. Small variations in fabrics, colours and finishing details are part of what makes every Northern Nome unique.

Will my Northern Nome look exactly like the photograph?

Your Northern Nome will be the same character design shown, but as each one is individually created there may be slight variations. Felt shades, tartans, trims and decorative embellishments may vary slightly due to material availability and handmade finishing. These small differences are part of the charm and individuality of a handmade creation.

Are Northern Nomes suitable as toys?

Northern Nomes are designed as decorative characters and collectors' pieces only. They are not toys and should not be given to children to play with.

Many characters include small decorative elements which may present a choking hazard. Please keep them safely out of reach of young children and pets.

Caring for Your Northern Nome

How do I care for my Northern Nome?

Your Northern Nome is a character to treasure and display. With a little care, they will remain a part of your home for many years. Please handle with care and avoid exposure to moisture, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or extreme temperatures.

How do I clean my Northern Nome?

Avoid washing or soaking your Northern Nome. If dust appears over time, gently remove it using a soft brush, feather duster or a cool setting on a hairdryer held at a distance. Please take care around any decorative elements and embellishments.

Can my Northern Nome be placed outdoors?

Northern Nomes are intended for indoor display only. Fabrics, felt, wooden components and decorative details are not designed to withstand outdoor conditions or moisture. They will be happiest sitting safely indoors, keeping watch over your home and adding a little magic to your surroundings.
