A proud son of Clan MacGregor, Roy 'Mistcut' MacGregor carries the spirit of the Jacobite age wherever he goes.
Dressed in MacGregor tartan and his deep green Jacobite bonnet, Roy is ready for the Highland road. His flowing golden beard, fur-trimmed clothing, shield and slender basket-hilted sword give him the unmistakable character of a Highland warrior.
They say Roy earned the name Mistcut for his habit of disappearing into the Highland mist before an enemy ever knew he was there. Whether there is truth in the tale is another matter entirely...
One thing is certain, Roy MacGregor is a character with a story to tell.
The White Cockade
Look closely at Roy's bonnet and you'll find a small white ribbon, a nod to the famous white cockade associated with the Jacobite cause.
During the Jacobite Risings, the white cockade became a recognised symbol of support for the Stuart cause. Worn on the bonnet, it served as a visible badge of allegiance, a small but meaningful sign that the wearer stood with the Jacobites.
Roy's little white ribbon is our own Northern Nome interpretation of that historic symbol. So it isn't simply there for decoration, it carries a little piece of the story with it.
The Story Behind Roy
Roy belongs to the Clan Path, where courage, loyalty and Highland spirit run deep.
A member of Clan MacGregor, Roy wears his clan colours with pride. His shield is always close at hand, while his sword is ready for the journey ahead. But beneath the warrior's appearance lies something of a wanderer, a Nome who would be just as happy following an old Highland track into the mist as standing shoulder to shoulder with his fellow clansmen.
Perhaps that is where Mistcut comes from after all.
