Born where sea mist meets old stone, Chieftain Taran Rathmuir is said to read the tides like others read books.

He listens more than he speaks, and when he does, it is never wasted. Fishermen once claimed their safest returns came when his silhouette was seen along the shore at dawn, standing still as the horizon shifted behind him. Even the gulls seem to quiet when this Chieftain walks the edge of the water.

Taran Rathmuir does not command the sea. He simply understands it and that, it turns out, is enough.

The Story Behind Taran

Taran Rathmuir belongs to the Clan Path, where the spirit of Scotland’s great clans lives on through characters shaped by courage, loyalty and a deep sense of belonging.

His name carries the sound of the shore, ancient, weathered, and entirely at ease with the wild. Where the land meets the sea and the mist rolls in from the water, that is where Taran is most himself. Patient, watchful, and always with one eye on the horizon.

A Northern Nome with Character

Every Northern Nome is handmade in Scotland, making each one an individual character with his own little quirks and personality.

Taran is created with:

  • Clan tartan kilt and plaid over the shoulder
  • Fur-trimmed bonnet with feather
  • Faux fur trims and beard
  • Wooden bead nose
  • Highland shield and sword
  • His own Chieftain character and story
